Logging Off: The Unofficial Official Goodbye

Today feels a bit surreal. While my official roll-off date is still a little while away, today marks my final actual working day at Accenture. Thanks to a stockpile of leave days that I’m clearing all the way to the end, I’m handing over my badge and shutting down the laptop for the last time today.

It’s been a wild ride since I first walked in on September 15th. Looking back at these past 18 weeks in the Health & Public Service (H&PS) department, the difference between the “me” who walked in and the “me” walking out is night and day.

From Firehoses to Firm Friendships

I remember writing early on that starting this internship felt like “drinking from a firehose.” The learning curve was steep, the acronyms were endless, and the pace was relentless. But what made it manageable and honestly, what made it fun was the people.

This internship wouldn’t have been the same without the team dynamics that kept me sane.

  • The Food Adventures: From discovering that the Pita and Hummus at Miznon is absolutely godly (seriously, we ate until we couldn’t move), to the team lunches at Nosh @ Henderson. I’ll miss the double chicken, but I’ll miss the banter more.
  • The “Extra-Curriculars”: I never thought I’d be picking up volleyball during an internship, but the weekly training sessions with Fion and Magenta became a highlight. It was tiring, sure, but seeing myself improve alongside them was genuinely rewarding.
  • The Office Vibe: I have to give a shoutout to everyone for keeping things interesting. And, of course, Laoban Nev, whose relaxed leadership style really helped me settle in and learn without the constant fear of messing up.

More Than Just Code

While I’m proud of the technical wins, the biggest takeaway from this internship hasn’t been just about data structures or deliverables.

It’s been about the realisation that work is sustainable because of the community you build around it. It’s about the “yapping” at lunch, the decompressing with friends after a long week, and the feeling that you’re actually contributing to something useful, rather than just cramming for an exam at SUTD.

What’s Next?

So, what am I doing with this “clearing leave” period? Rest. Resetting. And getting ready for a massive 2026.

I’m looking forward to the break before I dive back into the academic grind. I’ve got plans to finalise for that trip in May.

To the team at Accenture: thank you for the patience, the lessons, and the laughs. It’s been an honour.

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
